The 2008 Official Community Plan has passed its final reading. Not one of the suggested changes has been included; so the OCP will be passed in its current form. This leaves the District of Central Saanich in a bad position with no foundation for a plan to help alleviate the financial crunch we are all about to feel. Economic development has been set aside, and increased taxes seem to be the saviour of the day. Despite local taxes rising 65% over the last seven years, it looks as if the district is poised to raise them again. That is unless we all take note and do something to make the changes we as a community need and deserve. Take a step; like making sure your voice is heard and the right candidates are elected to serve us. In the last 3 years our sitting mayor and councillors have evaporated our surplus funds, left our infrastructure in danger, have not included any improvements to the district and have pretty much condemned our citizens to a less than rosy future. Can you imagine what they can do in another 3 years? Can we afford another 3 years of complacent politics instead of getting the right people to do the job? The answer is obvious and the solutions are at our fingertips. By voting in the right people we are securing our future, and it can be a bright and prosperous future. Here are our thoughts on the right people to vote in to make sure the issues are addressed in a fair and relevant manner. Please take the time to review their information and make the right choices based on sense and sensability.
